Why we started
Write this section yourselves in two or three short paragraphs. Why did you take on this mentorship, and what do you hope to learn?
The mentorship
Over six months, we meet once a month by video call with an attorney at the Law Office of Beril Dogan Berk, an immigration law firm in McKinney, Texas. Between sessions we complete an independent assignment and write it up. The firm's practice covers asylum, citizenship, green cards, business and investment immigration, and cross-border matters with Turkish law.
Skills we are building
- Professional ethics and confidentiality
- Structured, rule-based analysis of real-world situations
- Evidence-based research and written analysis
- Professional communication with clients and stakeholders
- Cross-cultural and multilingual competence
- Written and oral presentation
Where this could lead
Law is one possible path, but not the only one. The same skills apply in business, management, healthcare, and education, and we are keeping our options open.
